Q. What is All India Bar Examination (AIBE)?
Answer: All India Bar Examination (in short AIBE) is a qualifying examination to become an advocate. 

Q. Who conducts AIBE?
Answer: The AIBE is conducted by Bar Council of India (BCI).

Q. Why AIBE is conducted?
Answer: All India Bar Examination (AIBE)  is conducted by the BCI before enrolling the law graduates as advocates. This examination sets a minimum standard of legal knowledge for the advocates.

Q. Is AIBE mandatory?
Answer: Yes, passing this All India Bar Examination is mandatory to get enrolled with the BCI as an Advocate and practice law in India.

Q. How can I apply for the AIBE?
Answer: Before applying for the AIBE, it is mandatory to register in any of the State Bar Council. On registration, the State Bar Council provides a provisional registration certificate which is valid for two years. Once registered in the State Bar Council, a candidate can apply for AIBE.

Q. Can I practice Law with the provisional license provided by the State Bar Council?
Answer: Yes, only for two years from the date of issue of the certificate. The certificate is invalid after two years. So, one has to pass the AIBE to be eligible to practice thereafter.

All India Bar Examination (AIBE) - Candidates' Guide

 All India Bar Examination

All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is the gateway to advocacy. The law graduates who are looking forward to become lawyers have to get through this examination. The AIBE is conducted by the Bar Council of India. The AIBE is scheduled twice in a year, tentatively in the months of April and October. This is an all India level qualifying examination. Which means this is not a competitive examination where the students have to compete with each other for getting a rank.  To pass the AIBE, one has to score 40% of marks. 

Question pattern of All India Bar Examination
The AIBE examination question paper consists of 100 multiple choice question (MCQ). Syllabus of AIBE covers mainly the Constitution of India, CPC, CrPC, IPC, Advocates Act including all other acts in general. There are scenario based questions which are to be comprehended before answering to avoid mistakes.
